My music gets me through the days sometimes. I’ll go for a walk with my headphones on, or play something nice at home and feel better for it. There’s all kinds of music out there – I like it all mixed up. Music brings people together too. And that can do many good things. As Love Music Hate Racism say:

We use the positive energy of the music scene to fight back against the racism being pushed by Nazi organisations like the BNP.

The BNP are making a push in the Euro-elections in June, so we need more of that just now. Click the button for info.

When I get settled in on here, there will be a bit of music on the blog.

Any music file posted or linked here is aimed at passing on a tip, to recommend something good that others might enjoy. If you like it, see if you can get it somewhere other than the big corporate giants. You might be able to buy it directly from the artist, off their website, or from a nice independent record shop. The big-shot record companies and giant retailers are making a fortune out of you – and the artists.

The fab Tom Robinson, who has put up his entire back catalogue for free download, explains how it works. He says:

iTunes downloads cost 79p per track. Writer/publisher get 6p, Performer 6-8p, Visa/Mastercard 7p, Apple 12p, and Record Company almost 50p. Sod that. Help yourself to my songs & share them with your friends.

He’s got an optional paypal button if you want to help with bandwidth. I hit that and chipped in a bit when I thought it would be nice to have a digital version of the Tom Robinson Band classic Power in the Darkness – and got a personal email back. What a top bloke.

But if I’ve posted something that’s yours and you’re really cross about it, drop me a comment or use the email me page and I’ll take it down. I can’t afford to mess about with corporate lawyers. *sigh*

Like Tom says, better decide which side you’re on.
